On Thursday, June 20th, the AIA Philadelphia community had the privilege to hear from both Kimberly Dowdell, AIA, NOMAC, NCARB, LEED AP BC+C and Jamie R. Gauthier. Kimberly Dowdell is the current AIA National President. Jamie R. Gauthier is a Councilmember of the 3rd Distrcit of the City of Philadelphia. It was a great conversation led by the two minority women leaders.
The conversation covered a national and local outlook. They spoke to why architects should get more involved in policy and advocacy efforts related to the built environment. Also, they addressed key challenges facing Philadelphia, and how architects and urban planners can participate in helping to co-design solutions with community. It was particularly interesting to hear both outlooks on some of the most innovative solutions and ideas to helping meet the need for more affordable housing units.
The conversation will soon be live on our new Learning Management System so you can earn Continuing Education credits is you missed out on the program. Details to come..
