Complimentary Assoc. AIA Membership

Getting involved with AIA as a recent graduate is a great way to meet people who know what it's like to go through the transition from school to practice. Volunteering with one of our committees is a wonderful way to meet potential employers and learn about what path within or adjacent to architecture is right for you.

New graduates with an accredited degree in architecture are eligible for complimentary membership for up to 18 months.

PALM Mentorship Program by AIA Pennsylvania

The PALM (Promoting Advocacy & Licensure through Mentorship) Program, facilitated by the AIA Pennsylvania Emerging Professionals Committee (EPiC), aims to create a dialogue between licensed architects, aspiring architects, and architecture students.

The mentorship program is intended to engage members and students at all stages of their education and careers with a focus on encouraging and supporting licensure candidates on their path to becoming an architect and highlighting the importance of advocacy in speaking up for professional development and the collective interests of the profession.

ArchiPrep: Getting Licensed

The path to licensure in the U.S. typically includes education, experience, and examination. Requirements vary by state, so use NCARB's Licensing Requirements Tool to explore what’s needed where you want to practice.

If you’re already licensed outside the U.S., visit NCARB's website to learn about additional pathways to obtaining licensure in the U.S.

You don’t have to figure it out alone—AIA provides each state with an Architect Licensing Advisor. These volunteer professionals can guide you through the process and offer personalized advice.
