Of all the topics that Elizabeth May and Victoria Martine could have chosen for Professor Peng Du's course, “Modeling Urban Environmental Performance” (offered at Thomas Jefferson University College of Architecture and the Built Environment), they chose to study urban heat island effect mitigation in Heat Vulnerable neighborhoods of Philadelphia because, in their words, "We're a part of the Community." We hope that by sharing their work, that we may spark more ideas and discussion on this important topic, as well as build towards a collaborative solution addressing climate change inequities in here Philadelphia and beyond.
