Congratulations to Erdy McHenry Architecture for winning a Merit Award for their Federal Building Project.

The Federal Building was erected on a historical city promenade in 1973, with the industrial mentality of the workplace environment of office spaces (50s to the 80s), a concept that remains problematic. Existing buildings like the Federal building lacked natural light, break out areas, inviting spaces to eat, and more.

The Federal Office Building is designed to serve the public. It must be inviting to everyone while also offering a level of protection to those in and around the building. A new public entry is proposed for the facility which involves expanding the ground floor cafe function to invite the public into the space. Art in Architecture, and celebrating Local Artist Murals.
