We are pleased to announce that this year's Golf Committee chose two recipients for the 2026 Matthew J. Koenig Memorial Scholarship, Lyudmyla Sokolova and Kyla Lambrugo!
Lyudmyla (Lucy) Sokolova - 1st Place
Hello, I am Lyudmyla Sokolova, a graduating Bachelor of Science in Architecture student at Temple University’s Tyler School of Art and Architecture, continuing into the Master of Architecture program. Through my academic work and international studies on both Temple's Kyoto and Rome campuses, I have developed a multidisciplinary approach to architecture that bridges cultural, technical, and social perspectives in design. I have always been drawn to architecture for its ability to bring people together. As a Ukrainian student, I am particularly interested in resilient and adaptive design strategies. I hope to further explore these interests through my Master of Architecture studies, focusing on design approaches that support long-term community recovery and stability, particularly in areas affected by conflict.
Kyla Lambrugo - Honorable Mention
I am a senior at Temple University studying Architecture, where I am also continuing my education to pursue a Master’s degree in Architecture. My academic journey reflects a strong commitment to both creative design and technical problem-solving, with a growing focus on how architecture can positively shape communities. I am particularly passionate about sustainability and the role architects play in improving the built environment. I am also interested in developing design solutions that are not only environmentally responsible but also responsive to the needs of the people who use them. Through my studies, I have explored how thoughtful, community-centered design can address real-world challenges and create more inclusive, resilient spaces. As I prepare to enter graduate school, I hope to refine my design approach further and expand my impact, working toward a future where architecture contributes meaningfully to both environmental stewardship and community well-being.
Join us in celebrating both recipents on Monday, April 27th at the 2026 Matthew J. Koenig Memorial Golf Tournament. Limited spots, dinner tickets, and scholarship contributions are all still open.
