The public are invited to a launch party for a new studio publication, becoming something else —an album centered on MGA projects involving transformation of existing structures through a new architecture. At the core of each project is a history of resilience and hard-won intentionality. When architects inherit these buildings, a re-evaluation of potential new roles and relationships anchor the design, placing it in a collaborative dialogue with prior visions.
The album's design by Daniel Kelley, Anastasia Fedotova, and Christopher Raia captures the significant evolution and resulting designs for each project, including archival and final images and drawings. Contributing essays by Omar Blaik and Catherine Broh express the process, intellectual inquiry and physical aspects of building transformations in practice. The launch party will also debut an interactive exhibit of 3D models of the projects, fabricated by teams within the studio.
