Student Mixer Brings College Students Together from Across Philadelphia to the Center

The Center for DesignPhiladelphia is important for our community and future professionals. To strengthen student relationship with the AIA & DP, we hosted a Student Mixer event in Fall 2023 with all the five design schools in our area: Temple University, Drexel University, Thomas Jefferson University, University of Pennsylvania, and Community College of Philadelphia. We had found that students are actively involved in American Institute of Architecture Students, and National Organization of Minority Architecture Students, yet many didn’t know of the existence of the Center for DesignPhiladelphia, and they didn’t have much opportunity to meet other fellow design students throughout the city. The universities all agreed this was a great avenue to have students meet fellow students, and the AIA Philadelphia Emerging Architects Committee hosted the event which brought young professionals to network with future professionals. The event was very successful with close to one hundred people in attendance, and AIA Philadelphia pledged to continue this event annually.
