Dear all,
The Center for Architecture and Design is evolving, and we are thrilled to announce that the organization is now DesignPhiladelphia. This change reflects our growing commitment to inclusivity, collaboration, and innovation in the design industry. As we build a bigger, more inclusive table, we want to assure you that architects and architecture remain at the heart of the conversation about how design impacts our everyday lives.
Why should you feel excited about this change? Well, here's why:
A Natural Convener: The architecture profession has always been a natural convener, uniting diverse talents and perspectives to create beautiful, functional, sustainable spaces. As DesignPhiladelphia, we aim to expand on this principle, creating a hub where you can connect, collaborate, and hold conversations that push the practice of design forward.
Expanded Resources: With DesignPhiladelphia, your resources will now grow and expand. We are committed to providing accessible connections to help you diversify your work and elevate your practice. From more places to share your successes to expanded avenues for leadership, we're dedicated to helping you thrive. DesignPhiladelphia now has seven other design associations (link to In Residence Partners page) that AIA is sharing a table with – to collaborate with, to engage the next generation of designers together, and to support and lead important conversations about the impact of design on our City and region.
Design for Everyone: As part of our mission, we're inviting you to help us bring design to everyone. By participating and contributing, you play an essential role in shaping the next generation of designers, and in creating a design industry that truly reflects the people it serves.
Demonstrating Value of Architects & Architecture to the Public: One of the things we are most excited is having a public-facing, larger audience to tell the stories of the great work Philadelphia architects are doing for their clients and the city at large. In this monthly newsletter, we are sharing articles that will also be shared on the DesignPhiladelphia platform because they demonstrate the value of architects and architecture to the public.
We understand that change can be challenging, but we firmly believe that this evolution will bring about a new era of design in Philadelphia. We hope that you will join us on this exciting journey, and we look forward to seeing the incredible contributions you will make as part of DesignPhiladelphia.
Thank you for your continued support and dedication to excellence in design.
Best Regards,
Rebecca Johnson, Executive Director DesignPhiladelphia
