Beat the Heat Hunting Park - A Community Heat Relief Plan

Office of Sustainability at City of Philadelphia is working to address climate change in Philadelphia, an increasing concern for all of us. They are also working hard to address climate risk equitably, especially since not all Philadelphia neighborhoods experience this to the same degree. For example, some Philadelphia neighborhoods are known to be as much as 22 degrees warmer than others. This leads to an increased cooling burden, which directly impacts economic burden in the form of higher energy bills.

So how do we fix this? How do we mitigate heat in the hottest neighborhoods of Philadelphia?

Hear more directly from Cheyenne Flores, the Residential Climate Mitigation Specialist for the City of Philadelphia, and Korin Tangtrakul, the Program Manager for Place-Based Initiatives in the City of Philadelphia's Office of Sustainability in the recorded session at [this link].

This program was the 3rd in the series collaboration between COTE Environmental Justice subcommittee and Urban Design Committee.
