Please join Pennsylvania State Representative Donna Bullock and FitCityPHL for an exploration of the built environment initiatives happening in the Brewerytown neighborhood working towards public safety and health and economic viability. A focus will be on community gardens. 

Confirmed speakers: Donna Bullock, Pennsylvania House of Representatives; Keri Salerno, Public Health Management Corporation; Representative, AARP, PA; Adam Garber, CeaseFirePA; Jennifer Greenberg, Neighborhood Gardens Trust; Movita Johnson Harrell, Charles Foundation; Dorothy Johnson Speight, Mothers In Charge; representatives from each stop along the route; and others TBD.

Attendees will have the option to participate in a bike tour or a walk audit of Brewerytown. If participating in the bike tour, attendees need to provide their own bike. For those who do not own a bike, Indego - Philly's Bike Share program is available. For more information on how to obtain a bike through this please see https://www.rideindego.com/.

The bike tour route is estimated at 8 miles and includes stops at Glenwood Green Acres, Spring Gardens, North Philly Peach Park, Brewerytown Garden, and Strawberry Mansion Ridge Avenue Garden.

Walk Audit options will include mobile as well as stationary options. Attendees will have the choice of auditing corridors, intersections, public assets, or other areas of interest.

Following the bike tour and walk audit, attendees will return to the meet-up location (33rd and Diamond) for networking, debriefing, and reflection. Light snacks and beverages to be provided.

9:30am - 10:00am Registration and welcoming remarks

10:00am - 12:30pm Bike tour or walk audit

12:30pm - 1:30pm Networking and closing remarks

Attendees are strongly encouraged to come prepared for the weather ie sunscreen, protective clothing, rain gain, hats, bottled water etc.
