Learn about how your property can benefit from Green Stormwater Infrastructure!

PAGP has partnered with the Pennsylvania Environmental Council to put together some workshops on the availability of grants for Green Stormwater Infrastructure for commercial property owners

Did you know that much of Philadelphia’s water system uses the same underground pipes for both wastewater and rainwater? When heavy rain hits, that system can overflow, sending polluted water into our rivers and streams. The result can be street flooding or water seeping into basements, exactly where we don’t want it.

Many of our beloved historic properties face foundation and basement moisture problems. This is often caused by unmanaged roof runoff and large, paved areas like parking lots. When rain is left to pool and erode, it harms our buildings and drains our resources. But there is good news - you can manage water before it gets inside, keeping historic buildings dry and beautiful.

There are resources available to help!

The Pennsylvania Environmental Council is teaming up with Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia to help historic property owners learn about the Stormwater Management Incentive Program (SMIP) managed by the Philadelphia Water Department. SMIP offers grants for practical stormwater solutions, such as rain gardens, downspout planters, and permeable paving, that beautify your property while saving money and protecting the building.

Stormwater solutions can:

  • Prevent water intrusion into basements and foundations
  • Reduce erosion and pooling on property grounds
  • Enhance beauty with green, low-maintenance features
  • Deliver significant savings on stormwater fees (many properties see up to 80% in savings)

Please join us for this educational workshop:

Wednesday, May 13th

6 – 7:30 pm

Cliveden Carriage House, 6401 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia
