Kensington National Bank - OOMBRA ARCHITECTS
Jury Comments:
The façade is an elegant and restrained response to the adjacent historic bank. Mirroring and reinterpreting historic details with a modern touch brings a cohesiveness to the neighborhood. The jury appreciates the disciplined and considered response to the 19th century bank and beautiful detailing of the brick.
Graham Athletics and Wellness Center - EwingCole
Photographer: Halkin Mason Photography
Jury Comments:
The project’s design demonstrates exceptional contextual sensitivity, seamlessly integrating with the existing buildings on campus while addressing the needs of its users and the broader environment. The design carefully connects the new center to the surrounding architectural fabric, creating a cohesive and harmonious campus experience. Natural light is thoughtfully incorporated into the athletic spaces, enhancing the sense of openness and creating an inviting atmosphere for users. The material palette is clean and functional, using durable materials that not only support the high-traffic nature of the facility but also complement the adjacent structures, maintaining an approachable and contemporary aesthetic.
Camden Preparatory High School - DIGSAU
Photographer: Halkin Mason Photography
Jury Comments:
This project has a visual sequence and massing vocabulary that is just enough to add a twist to the program and appearance, without making moves that appear foreign. The jury appreciated the sense of materiality and straight forward detailing.
Brush Watson - OOMBRA ARCHITECTS
Photographer: Jason Keen
Jury Comments:
What stood out to the jury was the project’s thoughtfulness of connecting to the neighborhood, delicate care to access outdoor space and the attention to creating a balanced site plan. The buildings share an esthetic vocabulary but take on individual identities in a playful way.
Myers Hall Switchgear - Moto Designshop
Jury Comments:
The design elevates the ordinary, a commendable move for a project that could have been treated in a blasé manner. The masonry screen gives the building texture and visual interest, while also delineating outdoor circulation and spaces.
