The Lighting Practice (TLP) is excited to announce that Helen Diemer, President of TLP, will retire at the end of 2023, after nearly three decades of dedicated service. Michael Barber will assume the role of President, ensuring the ongoing legacy of leadership at TLP.
Helen Diemer has been an instrumental part of The Lighting Practice since joining the firm in 1994, bringing lighting design expertise, visionary leadership, and a wealth of knowledge to the firm. Throughout her tenure, Helen has built a diverse, creative team of professionals, helping the firm achieve recognition in the AEC and lighting design industry.
Under Helen's guidance, The Lighting Practice has established strategic partnerships, expanded to three firm locations, and consistently delivered exceptional lighting design. By prioritizing design excellence and unsurpassed client service, she has fostered an environment of collaboration, innovation and attention to detail. Her leadership has set the standard for excellence in our industry, and her legacy will continue to influence The Lighting Practice.

Michael Barber has been with The Lighting Practice for 29 years and will assume the role of President, after serving as a Principal for 19 years. Michael has been a driving force behind the company's success, serving on the Executive Management Committee for the past 2-years, leading the relocation and design of TLP's new Philadelphia office, and ushering in new technological changes to improve staff workflow and flexibility.
