The key to The Lighting Practice’s legacy of excellence is its talented team of lighting designers whose expertise spans multiple disciplines. These professionals bring together their ideas, knowledge, and talents to transform ordinary spaces into captivating and memorable places. TLP’s New York office is excited to welcome Tammy Wu, Yu Tien Hsieh, and Elizabeth Mc.
Tammy Wu, LEED AP – Senior Designer
Tammy Wu joined The Lighting Practice in 2021 as a Senior Lighting Designer. She brings a wealth of technical knowledge and hands-on experience. In addition to a M.Arch. from University of Pennsylvania, Tammy has over a decade of experience working for prominent New York City lighting design firms. She has designed interior and exterior lighting solutions for academic, corporate, exhibit and museum, performing arts venues, and private residences. As a LEED Accredited Professional, she is experienced in designing high efficiency lighting and daylight harvesting systems.
Yu Tien Hsieh – Lighting Designer I
Yu Tien joined The Lighting Practice in 2021 as Lighting Designer I after working for a New York construction company. She received her MFA from Parsons School of Design with a double major in Lighting and Interior Design. Yu Tien was drawn to lighting design because she can study and embrace light from a more psychological perspective in a space. Since joining TLP, Yu Tien’s experience has grown to include multifamily building, exterior façade lighting and exterior landscape lighting.
Elizabeth McGuoirk – Lighting Designer I
Elizabeth McGuoirk joined The Lighting Practice in 2022. She began her career as an electrical engineer, following graduation from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where she received a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering. Elizabeth’s love of numbers and interest in light’s ability to influence and inspire merged into a career in lighting. Prior to joining TLP and after working as an electrical engineer for firms based in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, she worked as a lighting designer for another NYC firm. Since joining TLP, Elizabeth’s project experience has expanded to include academic, corporate, healthcare, and retail.
TLP is delighted to welcome Tammy, Yu Tien, and Elizabeth to the team.
