CBP Architects Celebrates Two Senior Living Project Milestones

CBP Architects celebrated two senior living project milestones this week: ribbon-cutting for the Rev. James Moore Senior Triangle Village on Thursday, 18 September, and groundbreaking for Ardmore House II on Friday, 19 September. Both are affordable senior housing projects financed using the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) via the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA). Local legislators, longtime neighbors, community advocates, representatives from CBP Architects, and Robin Wiessmann, executive director and CEO of PHFA, attended both events. Both projects emerged after years of community collaboration and advocacy, highlighting the need for affordable senior housing in their neighborhoods.

“The thing we all know now is that the need for this affordable housing is not only national, but it's all over the commonwealth. So, we are really working to try and create affordable housing for urban, rural, and suburban. Every one of them is important . . . and really integrating these communities is the most significant thing we can do as a society.”

Rev. James Moore Senior Triangle Village provides 40 units of affordable senior living in a three-story Passive House building (certification pending) located at North 37th Street and Mantua Avenue in Philadelphia. The design integrates with the neighborhood's expanding market-rate construction.

Ardmore House II closed for PHFA funding in August. It will provide 48 affordable one-bedroom apartments for seniors in Ardmore, Pa. The four-story building will engage with downtown Ardmore and incorporate sustainable features to achieve LEED Gold certification. Completion is anticipated by the end of 2026.
