CBP Architects is delighted to have two projects included among the recipients of the 2024 Preservation Achievement Awards. The Engine 37 Firehouse and Peter Woll and Sons Factory Building both earned Grand Jury Awards. Awards will be presented at a ceremony June 5, 2024, at Vie in Philadelphia.

The Engine 37 Firehouse is the oldest active City of Philadelphia firehouse. Built in 1894, it is listed on the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places and falls within the Chestnut Hill National Historic District. CBP Architects designed a renovation and expansion to help the facility meet state-of-the-art firefighting standards.

CBP Architects transformed the c. 1885 Peter Woll and Sons Factory Building into the Paper Factory Lofts, designing both the building envelope restoration and interior reconfiguration into 30 loft apartments. The project uses salvaged industrial elements to highlight the building's history. Powers & Company, Inc. provided preservation consulting on the project.

“We'd like to thank and congratulate our clients, the City of Philadelphia and Urban Conversions, for trusting us with these projects,” said CBP Architects Partner Eric Leighton, AIA. “It's especially meaningful when we are able to create architecture that makes a difference in the community and is recognized by our peers.”

The annual awards program of the Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia celebrates projects, people, and organizations that support preservation, advocacy, and public service throughout the region. We congratulate our clients, teammates, and all of this year's award recipients.
