Congratulations to Bohlin Cywinski Jackson on winning an Honor Award for their Creative Design Studio project.

This design firm’s new studio is an adaptive re-use of the former Midday Club, founded in 1929, at the historically listed 123 South Broad Street in Philadelphia. The space was also recently used as a library reading room for a law office.

Hoteling desk work stations run the length of the main office space. Open teaming spaces are located below the extended mezzanine level.

We studied work station and collaboration typologies for the new studio to establish the ideal configurations for individual and group work. Beyond hoteling desks that provide flexiblity as needs change throughout the week, teaming and collaborative areas are scaled to accomodate varied group sizes and to move seamlessly between virtual and in-person meetings.

Additional spaces for virtual demonstration and project walk-throughs, impromptu pin-ups, and quiet calls are located throughout the studio. A dedicated fabrication shop on the 30th floor provides ample space set back from the main studio workspaces, with plentiful natural light.
