Jeremiah Woodring, AIA, LEED AP, WELL AP, CPHC, CDT
Architect | Civic Leader | Founder, ArchElect
Jeremiah Woodring is a Senior Project Architect at HDR in Philadelphia, known for healthcare design that pairs technical rigor with patient-centered care. Before HDR, for six years, he served as one of the architects for New Jersey’s first 12-story freestanding cancer hospital, the Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center in New Brunswick. His credentials as a LEED/WELL Accredited Professional, PHIUS Certified Passive House Consultant, and CSI Construction Documents Technologist span the full arc of responsible design. He has also taught a healthcare design studio at Drexel University.
Jeremiah is also the founder of ArchElect, a platform that equips architects to run for office and lead in their communities. ArchElect offers consultation, education, and campaign resources, along with a Civic Leader Cohort for emerging professionals. He built it from firsthand experience. As he rose from Secretary to Chair of AIA Pennsylvania’s Government Affairs Committee, he became a critical advocate for Act No. 144 of 2024, which strengthened continuing education requirements for architects. Locally, he serves as Chair of the AIA/GBCA Joint Committee and Advocacy Co-Chair with AIA Philadelphia. He then won a seat on the Lower Merion Township Board of Commissioners, where he now serves as Ward 3 Commissioner and Board Vice-President. He advocates for a more pedestrian-friendly and safe built environment through traffic calming, along with expanded affordable housing and sustainability. He is also championing greater investment in his district, including a new vision for its post-industrial corridor. Residents know him for being accessible and for putting good governance first.
Raised in a low-income household and working full-time through college, Jeremiah has made it his mission to build the resources and community he never had, for the next generation of architects and the neighbors he serves.
Celebrate Jeremiah with us by joining in for the 2026 Design Celebration on Thursday, November 12.
