The former headquarters of Emergency Aid of Pennsylvania, this 12-story historically designated building has provided a place to stay for those in need since 1927. Originally designed as a hotel and safe space for young women venturing to the city, today it is operated by Project HOME as permanent supportive housing. In an effort to continue serving this mission, the building is being renovated with much-needed updates and repairs. The scope of work includes the replacement of finishes and fixtures in each of the 144 dwelling units and common spaces, as well as facade masonry repair and maintenance, and upgrades to the original wood windows. Given the historic nature of the building, CICADA is spearheading engagement with the Philadelphia Historical Commission and collaborating on designs and treatments that are sensitive to the fabric of the original structure.
