SCHRADERGROUP Studio (SG) collaborated with Hatboro- Horsham School District and the Keith Valley Middle School community to create a comprehensive wall graphics installation that transforms the new middle school. The project was developed as an extension of both the school’s educational mission and its architectural design. Working with students and staff, SG helped refine thematic team names and logos for each learning pod across all grade levels. These themes: Hatters Building a Foundation, Hatters Taking Flight and Hatters Reaching for the Stars, were based on the school’s Hattermascot and translated into a cohesive graphic system. In a middle school of 1,200 students, these smaller learning communities promote belonging. Within each pod, graphics intentionally connect students to their surroundings and shared history. The imagery and corresponding blurbs highlight notable local figures, including members of the Lenni-Lenape Tribe, innovators such as George Nakashima and John Dawson, cultural leaders like Marian Anderson and contemporary figures like Bradley Cooper. Depictions of local landmarks, historic events, native species and regional innovations are woven throughout the school, transforming circulation spaces into sources of inspiration. Together, the designs help create an environment that supports student well-being, celebrates place and reinforces the district’s mission: encouraging students to see themselves as learners rooted in their community and capable of shaping the world beyond it.
