Design Profile: Lincoln Financial Center At Cobbs Creek

EwingCole

At the Lincoln Financial Center at Cobbs Creek Golf Course, interior design serves as a bridge between art and the city. Designed by EwingCole as part of the broader Cobbs Creek restoration, the project reimagines the golf experience through a contemporary, inclusive lens that welcomes seasoned players and first-time visitors with equal intention. Central to this vision is an expansive mural integrated into the main restaurant, bar and lounge space. Developed in collaboration with Mural Arts, the artwork functions as both a visual anchor and a cultural narrative. The mural celebrates Philadelphia’s cultural legacy through portraits of artists, athletes and icons, including Questlove, Patti LaBelle, Dawn Staley and Charlie Sifford. By foregrounding figures who represent creative excellence, perseverance and barrier-breaking achievement, the mural mirrors Cobbs Creek’s own history as a course that welcomed women and African Americans at a time when many others did not. Surrounding this artwork, the interiors blend warmth and flexibility. Natural materials, layered textures and a variety of seating options create spaces that feel comfortable rather than formal. Together, the architecture and mural establish the Lincoln Financial Center as a civic living room, an environment where art amplifies place, design supports belonging and the game of golf opens itself to the broader city.
