In Memoriam: Jeffrey Robert Wilson

Jeffrey Robert Wilson, 65, passed away on May 20, 2023, after a brave battle with cancer. Jeff is survived by his wife Maryann Laverty, sister Amy Wilson Charron, daughters Eva and Kate Laverty-Wilson, and sons-in-law Tim Keeney and Mike Bentson.

After graduating from the Philadelphia College of Art (now University of the Arts) in 1983, Jeff began his career working for Richard Conway Meyer Architect. His portfolio with the firm included career-defining projects for Philadelphia’s Carousel House and Chemical Heritage Foundation (now Science History Institute) and the award-winning boathouse at St. Andrew’s School in Middletown, Delaware.

In 1989, Jeff founded Wilson Consulting Inc to focus on providing architectural specifications for architects, landscape architects, and related design disciplines. The new construction, renovation, and historic restoration work the firm undertook reflected Jeff’s deep appreciation for arts and culture and his passion for environmental preservation, with a focus on designs seeking LEED certification from the USGBC. In its almost 35 years, the firm contributed to hundreds of projects — including parks and cultural centers of Washington DC, college and medical campuses across North America, and buildings dotting the Philadelphia skyline.

True to form, Jeff continued to work throughout the treatments that followed his cancer diagnosis in late 2021 — a testament to his lifelong dedication to his work and those he worked with.

Alongside his professional contributions, Jeff will be remembered by those who knew him for his mentorship, his generous spirit and commitment to philanthropy, his tireless devotion to his family, his good humor, and his grace.
