The Lighting Practice is thrilled to announce the promotion of Xingying Peng and Angela Banner to Lighting Designer II. Xingying and Angela have shown their commitment and dedication to our team, design excellence, and our clients.
Xingying Peng, IES EP, Jr. Associate IALD – Lighting Designer II
Xingying Peng joined The Lighting Practice's Philadelphia office in 2018 as an intern while she earned her Master of Fine Arts in Lighting Design from Parsons School of Design. In 2019, She rejoined the team as a full-time lighting designer in TLP's New York office. Before attending Parsons, Xingying worked as a theatrical lighting designer, taking part in the production of several theater festivals in Asia including the Beijing Fringe Festival, Singapore M1 Festival, and others. She also worked as a lighting fellow at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company in Washington, D.C. Since joining TLP, her project experience has grown to include corporate and academic environments as well as exterior façades. She has been an integral part of TLP's New York office and its growth.
“As one of the first team members in our New York office, we're very proud to see how Xingying has grown with TLP”, says Emad Hasan, Principal of TLP's New York office. “In addition to her passion for lighting, she consistently challenges herself by attempting tasks that are outside of her comfort zone”.
Angela Banner – Lighting Designer II
Angela Banner joined The Lighting Practice Philadelphia office in 2018. She previously installed temporary lighting for monuments at the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Philadelphia, which was her introduction to lighting public spaces. Angela was inspired to pursue lighting design as a career while attending Philadelphia University, now Jefferson East Falls. Through industrial design, she learned how lighting can walk the line between art, design, and cutting-edge technology. Since joining TLP, Angela's project experience includes a variety of retail environments and outdoor public spaces.
“We are delighted to promote Angie to the role of Lighting Designer II”, says TLP President Helen Diemer, “she has been a valued member of our team since 2017, always embracing new challenges, solving problems creatively, and streamlining our processes”.
