The Lighting Practice is thrilled to announce the promotion of Matthew Fracassini to Associate.

Matthew Fracassini, MIES, LEEP AP BD+C – Associate | Sustainability Leader

Matthew joined The Lighting Practice in 2015 as a Project Manager and then a Senior Lighting Designer, before being promoted to Associate at the firm. Matt's focus is designing attractive, coherent, and energy-efficient lighting with advanced lighting control solutions. His project experience includes corporate, healthcare, laboratories, financial institutions, and higher education environments. In his role as Associate, he will lead The Lighting Practice in sustainable design through thoughtful and imaginative approaches that transform the built environment and limits impact on the planet.

“Sustainable design requires not only aggressive goals, such as Net Zero or LEED Platinum, but a complete shift in mindset regarding the power, potential, and purpose of our built environment,” says Matthew, “I will encourage a thoughtful and innovative approach by integrating sustainable principles into our design process and operations, setting challenging benchmarks, and forging connections with our clients and communities.”

Matthew oversees the development and refinement of sustainability goals, establishes achievable sustainability metrics and processes as well as leading intra-office and client-facing opportunities for sustainability education.

“Matt is a tenured professional and great leader, from both a project and team perspective,” says Michael Barber, Principal at TLP, “We're excited to have him lead an internal sustainable design group, which will study control systems and technologies, material selections, supply chains and other means to create truly more sustainable lighting designs.”

As an Associate, Matthew will uphold The Lighting Practice's ethos of providing high quality design with an exceptional client experience. We are proud of the talent and creativity he brings to our team, our clients, and the lighting design community at large.
