Springfield, N.J., April 13, 2023 – DIGroup Architecture, an MBE/DBE/SBE-certified architecture, interiors and graphic design firm based in New Brunswick, N.J., is the architect of record tasked with spearheading public-school upgrades on behalf of the municipality of Springfield Township. The assignment comes on the heels of a special election where residents voted in favor of a $32.9M bond referendum.

“We are honored to be working alongside the district to ensure that the school updates support the success, wellness and safety needs of today's students, as well as students, teachers, staff and guests who will enter the doors, engage and learn in the classrooms, walk the halls and gather across the common spaces well into the future,” said DIG Associate Kelli Glasgow, AIA.

Glasgow, whose experience with DIG includes a number of assignments in the education space, has been working collaboratively with Springfield Schools Superintendent Dr. Rachel Goldberg to raise awareness regarding details – and the immediate and long-term impact – of the referendum's scope.

The newly approved $32.9M bond referendum will fund a variety of infrastructure upgrades, renovations and security updates. These include:

·      HVAC system modernization

·      Plumbing and sewer system enhancements, including updated, efficient bathroom fixtures

·      Improvements to video-monitoring systems

·      Installation of new exterior doors with protective glazing

·      Energy-efficient window replacements

·      Interior renovations to select education spaces, music and art rooms

Upgrades to schools across Springfield are expected to begin design this month with completion and delivery of all projects to be completed by 2026.
