Philadelphia Fellows gathered for their 2024 Picnic, toasting new Fellows: Nancy B. Bastian, FAIA; Jeffrey Pastva, FAIA; Mark Sanderson, FAIA; and Craig S. Spangler, FAIA.
Philadelphia Fellows held their 2024 Picnic, welcomed by Barbara Durning and David McHenry, FAIA at their remarkable home on the banks of the Delaware River, to celebrate those Chapter members newly elevated to the AIA’s College of Fellows.
Remarks began with eulogies for those Fellows that had passed since the 2023 Picnic: James Kruhly, FAIA; Otto Reichert-Facilides, FAIA; Emanuel Kelly, FAIA; Raymond Grenald, FAIA; Charles E. Dagit, Jr., FAIA; and John Q. Lawson, FAIA.
Four new Fellows were then introduced to the group by their sponsor or one of their letter-writers, followed by individual comments by, and a hearty toast to each: Nancy B. Bastian, FAIA; Jeffrey Pastva, FAIA; Mark Sanderson, FAIA; and Craig S. Spangler, FAIA. A fifth new Fellow, Matthew Krissel, FAIA could not be present and will be welcomed at next year’s picnic. All had demonstrated exceptional work and significant contributions to our profession and our society, as recognized by the College’s 2024 jury. Their service, as with all Fellows, is continuing: to promote the profession; to mentor young architects and emerging professionals; and to sustain the College of Fellows.
