Philadelphians deserve walkable neighborhoods and affordable housing—don’t you agree?
That’s why we launched Finding Philadelphia’s Missing Middle Housing (FPMMH) in October 2024: a community-centered campaign to promote housing options like duplexes, ADUs, courtyard apartments, and more. Backed by AARP and built through community input, FPMMH includes public events, an ADU design competition, and a fall exhibition at the 2025 DesignPhiladelphia Festival.
Despite the recent loss of NEA funding posing serious challenges (as noted in The Architect’s Newspaper), we’re moving forward—because we believe in Philadelphia and the power of community-driven design to shape a more affordable, inclusive city.
Today, we’re reaching out with a call to action.
On Saturday, June 21, from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM, we’re partnering with CONVERGENCE Philadelphia and will be part of a citywide “House Party"—where Finding Philadelphia’s Missing Middle Housing will have simultaneous activations across five neighborhoods. These gatherings aim to elevate community voices and build support for alternative housing models. We believe your insights and presence could make a real impact, and we’d be thrilled to have you involved.
We’re looking for volunteers to staff tables, talk with neighbors, answer questions, and encourage participation.
The event will run in two shifts: 9:00 AM–12:30 PM and 12:30 PM–2:30 PM.
All volunteers will receive training on Missing Middle Housing, ADUs, and the goals of the initiative to ensure you feel confident and prepared. (Training date TBD.)
Confirmed locations include:
Esperanza Arts Center (4261 N 5th Street, North Philadelphia)
Bustleton Learning Center (6600 Bustleton Avenue, Northeast Philadelphia)
West Oak Lane Charter School (7115 Stenton Avenue, Northwest Philadelphia)*
Greater Philadelphia Community Alliance (GPCA) (South Philadelphia)
Public Health Management Corporation (4601 Market Street, West Philadelphia)
Thank you for being part of the Collaborative’s work and for championing equity by design. Let’s keep moving forward—together.
