Below grade waterproofing failures can be some of the most complex water infiltrations to understand and gauge for remediation. Understanding the types of waterproofing, potential sources of water infiltration, and how to prevent these failures during the construction process with a good QA/QC process is paramount. However, even with a high-quality construction QA/QC process water intrusions can still occur. Intertek would like to share a range of below grade waterproofing water infiltration examples to express the importance of a thorough investigation/forensics process, choosing the correct remediation type for the specific conditions, and ultimately validating those repairs to achieve a weathertight below grade structure.

Learning Objectives:
1. Leave with a high-level understanding of below grade waterproofing systems, potential below grade sources of water infiltration, and QA/QC processes to avoid waterproofing failures.
2. Describe the typical types of remediation that can be performed to combat below grade waterproofing failures.
3. Understand the common investigative process for below grade waterproofing from initial observation to validation of repair.
4. Use real world case studies performed by Intertek on below grade waterproofing failures to educate oneself on any future failures observed on your respective properties and/or projects
