School doesn’t teach much about claims. If we look at a typical engineering or architecture curriculum, we see courses on technical writing, computer fundamentals, materials, and design. Perhaps there are courses on sustainability, modeling, cost estimating, or designing for a specific industry like health care. You might even participate in a one-day workshop led by a local attorney on risk management, but at that stage of your education, the information likely seems remote and nebulous. So risk management typically comes in the form of on-the-job training. This course was created to help formalize that training.
Learning Objectives:
Review risk drivers identified by key insurance providers for design professionals.
Consider lessons learned from actual claim examples.
Add more structure to risk analysis.
Identify critical strategies for risks that don’t appear to be adequately managed
