What role can architects play in shaping Philadelphia’s public realm, neighborhoods, and development?
Join us for a drop-in brainstorming session to help reenergize AIA Philadelphia’s Urban Design Committee. We’re looking for people who are curious about how our city grows and changes, and interested in bringing an architectural perspective to the conversation.
What could the Urban Design Committee do next?
In the past, the committee has organized community design charrettes, presented at regional AIA conferences, hosted walking and biking tours of development and historic sites, and convened a book club exploring important urban issues.
Philadelphia has a rich ecosystem of organizations working on urban issues, including DAG, ULI, Green Building United, Community Design Collaborative, and Fifth Square. The opportunity for AIA’s Urban Design Committee this time around is to bring something distinctive to the table: to leverage the design expertise of architects to deepen and expand the public’s understanding of urban development and the public realm.
Come share your ideas, meet fellow urbanists, and help shape what the committee could become. Whether you’re interested in public space, urban development, or the future of Philadelphia’s neighborhoods—and/or participate in other AIA urban-related committees—we’d love to have you join us.
Co-conveners: Andrew Ferrarelli, AIA LEED AP BD+C, and Danielle DiLeo Kim, AIA
