Please join us for a tour of the new Arrupe Hall, a 17,000 SF residence hall for the Jesuit Priests of Saint Joseph’s University and Saint Joseph’s Preparatory School. The project includes a number of innovative design features that garnered it the 2021 Divine Detail Award, the 2020 Silver Medal Award, Unbuilt from the AIA Philadelphia, with a 2021 Honor Award from the AIA Pennsylvania.
Learning Objectives
Intensive, three dimensional modular course planning.
Understanding the influence of masonry volumetric thermal and moisture movement in the context of a non-linear masonry installation.
Devising a system for reinforcing a single brick wythe with constantly shifting coursing.
Collaboration among designers, researchers, contractors and tradespeople in ensuring the constructability of the vision.
