Architectural Epidemiology; How Architects Can Meet Owner Challenges & Community Requirements
Virtual: Zoom
Tuesday 02 Dec 2025
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
2 Dec 2025 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Join COTE Philadelphia and COTE National for a lively discussion around Architectural Epidemiology; Architecture as a Mechanism for Designing a Healthier, More Sustainable and Resilient World. The book explores an approach to reveal the environmental and social determinants of health that are influenced by changes to the built environment – particularly at the intersection of climate change, communicable and non-communicable disease, and social equity. The methodology explored in the book combines neighborhood data with participatory community engagement and helps architects measure the climate, health, and equity. The interactive session that will include the author, Adele Houghton, and reviewers, Z Smith and Theresa Mark, will introduce attendees to this public health-informed site assessment and conceptual design process.
