Join the BEC Committee on January 16th for a lunch presentation. This presentation will discuss how designers can begin to leverage new digital tools to enhance their building envelope design and most importantly develop an understanding of how the building will be impacted by the context and environmental factors existing on the site. It will also touch on how to generate preliminary analysis of Operational carbon , solar panel’s locations, and embodied carbon emission calculations to allow the designer a closer look at the impact of the design on these factors.
Speaker: Esra Abumounshar - Stantec, Computational Design Lead
Continuing Education Credits: 1 LU
Objectives:
1. Attendees will learn about new emerging technologies.
2. Attendees will have a better understanding of environmental impacts on a building envelope and how to leverage the tool to validate building overall massing and glazing factor.
3. Attendees can begin to implement this tool on their projects and learning how to assess operational carbon footprint of their design through Forma.
4. Attendees will learn to leverage design automation features to quickly develop different design concepts that could meet the client needs along with analytics to assist in validating each option and showcasing pros and cons for each.
