AIA Philadelphia's Housing Committee will be visiting the in-construction Box Factory Apartments project. Located in Philadelphia’s thriving Fishtown neighborhood, this 63-unit multi-family project is adjacent to the flourishing Frankford Ave corridor.
Viewed from the corner of North Front Street and Columbia Avenue, the design by SITIO Architecture + Urbanism visually connects to the neighboring, existing "Box Lofts" through a composition of brick volumes. The new building also physically links the existing building through a shared, glassy ground floor entry pavilion. This pavilion leads to a pocket-park courtyard garden, providing an oasis for the residents amongst its urban environment. A commercial space on the corner adds to the vitality and offerings of the neighborhood.
The project is expected to open several months from now, so this tour will give us an opportunity to see it while in the midst of construction. Read more about the project here:
