The Green Roof market in the US began in earnest about 25 years ago and the technology, vocabulary, and approach has evolved significantly. This presentation will cover the various types of green roof assemblies, the components that are involved, and what designers and specifiers need to look for when selecting various components. From the simple utilitarian stormwater roof to the complex bespoke assembly with amenities and accessories, attendees will gain an understanding of the various approaches to designing a green roof. We will touch on local PWD requirements and walk through the salient performance characteristics of each component of a green roof assembly. Throughout the presentation, a variety of installed project examples will be discussed to demonstrate specific approaches.
