You're invited to join the AIA Philadelphia Committee on the Environment to learn more about the 2030 Commitment, to share knowledge, and to improve practice. Architects have an important role to play in addressing the climate crisis. In Philadelphia, buildings alone contribute to more than 70% of the city's greenhouse gas emissions. We are proud to offer another engaging presentation in our series focused on adaptive reuse & embodied carbon.
Join us to hear from Lori Ferriss (Director of Sustainability & Climate Action, Principal at Goody Clancy) and Jason J Jewhurst (Principal and partner at Bruner|Cott Architects) in the second session titled 'Carbon Benefits: Reuse of Existing Buildings & Campuses' virtually on July 19th at 5 PM. The goal of this session will be to provoke and inspire action from peers, clients, stakeholders by unpacking the complexity of embodied and operational carbon values of existing buildings. The panel will begin with Jason Jewhurst, discussing case studies of adaptive reuse of academic campus buildings. Lori Ferriss will discuss CARE tools and samples of projects with findings from the CARE Tool. The session will cover shared strategies at both the building and campus level. This will illustrate changing goals on the part of clients about the first cost vs. long term cost vs. long term environmental responsibility debate.
The event is sponsored by Premier Building Restoration, Inc and TN Ward.
