OZ Collaborative worked closely with Philly Office Retail’s team, including Bancroft Green, to design an energy efficient, complex conversion of auxiliary buildings to this neighborhood church into high-end condos. The congregation retained control and use of the 19th century sanctuary until recently. The design created nineteen condominium apartments, with four of these units in a new penthouse atop the original structure. The project affords incredible views of picturesque downtown Mt. Airy. Project amenities include a new full-service elevator, roof decks and pilothouse access for the penthouse units, indoor/outdoor sunrooms, balconies, patios, and a covered carport structure with a green roof. A major challenge was providing accessibility for fourteen of the units, despite twelve different floor levels in the building. OZC has currently been commissioned to design a reuse of the sanctuary space as a vibrant theater for Lantern Theater Company
