Meyer Completes Expansion of Manufacturers' Golf & Country Club in Fort Washington, PA
The 5,860 square-foot bar and lounge area blends the club's historic character with modern sophistication in a state-of-the-art, two-story bar and outdoor lounge area.
Fort Washington, PA – Meyer, a national award-winning architecture and design firm, announced the completion of the new bar and lounge at Manufacturers' Golf & Country Club in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania. Designed in the club's classic manor-house style, this updated space preserves the timeless character of one of the region's most revered golf courses in a modern expansion that celebrates Manufacturer's enduring commitment to hospitality, fellowship and charm.
The 5,860 square-foot building incorporates an elegant all-glass exterior to compliment the club's original façade of local Wissahickon schist stone. Inside, the innovative solar folding-glass system doubles as an elegant backdrop for a state-of-the-art, two-story bar, which features enhanced dining and outdoor patio space overlooking the sweeping fairways below.
“The guiding principle behind this stunning renovation was that less is more,” said Meyer Principal George Wilson, AIA, NCARB. “We wanted to design an updated gathering space that honors Manufacturer's rich history and highlights the natural beauty of the club.”
Meyer provided comprehensive architecture and interior design services for the project and worked closely with its partners, construction manager MidAtlantic Construction, Ehret Construction Consulting & Club Advisory Services, and Engineers Kupper Engineering, Bala Engineering, and Woodrow & Associates, throughout the renovation.
In addition to the expanded bar setting, the renovation also included a new grill area, fire pits, pavers and outdoor lighting. The interior also features a new wine room with wine lockers, as well as all-new lighting, finishes and millwork surrounding freshly installed fireplaces on the building's first floor.
“Meyer worked with us to seamlessly blend more than 100 years of history with a modern and innovative design that best serves our members' needs,” said Gregory D'Alonzo, General Manager and Chief Operating Officer of Manufacturers' Golf & Country Club. “Meyer's vision, professionalism and attention to detail exceeded our expectations, and we were proud to partner with them on this incredible project.”
The Meyer team, led by Wilson, also included Project Manager Eiman Alhassani and Architectural Designers Danielle Carter, WELL AP and Sam Turner.
Meyer, which launched a new brand identity and website earlier this month, is a nationally recognized leader with a full-service approach designed to support and empower clients throughout the project lifecycle. The firm has led a number of high-profile renovation projects from coast to coast.
