C. Raymond Davis & Sons (CRD) is pleased to announce the recent completion of the Poe Dormitory at The Hun School of Princeton. CRD proudly served as Design-Builder in collaboration with Clarke Caton Hintz, DCI Engineers, and McHugh Engineering Associates.

CRD was engaged from the earliest planning stages, navigating approvals, community concerns, and municipal requirements. The project required full demolition of the existing outdated dormitory and extensive site preparation. Further, the tight campus site—with mature trees, adjacent facilities, and limited staging space—required careful sequencing and logistics to avoid disruptions. Our team skillfully navigated every challenge to bring this project to life.

The three-story, 41,000 sqft dormitory now serves as the primary residence hall for the school's boarding program—providing housing for 114 students and 12 faculty families. Spaces include 60 dorm rooms, 12 faculty apartments, nine lounges with kitchenettes, and three outdoor courtyards.

Despite challenges with long-lead materials, site conditions, and an aggressive schedule, CRD completed the project in 14 months, allowing the school to welcome students in time for the start of the 2025 academic year.

Thoughtfully designed and built for comfort, efficiency, and community, the Poe Dormitory will provide a vibrant home for generations of Hun School students for years to come.
