Highlighting the work of local Community Development Corporation HACE in revitalizing the neighborhoods of Fairhill and St. Hugh, the tour will explore the variety of improvements this CDC has spearheaded over the last 25 years. The tour will includes work such as streetscape improvements along "el centro de oro", affordable housing developments and an art trail along the abandoned Conrail line.
Learning Objectives
Participants will explore a culturally rich neighborhood and experience the amazing and inspiring efforts of a passionate community organization.
Participants will learn about how 25 years of organizing and strategic planning has lead to HACE's ability to develop a wide range of services and projects to coalesce, unify and celebrate the residents of this neighborhood.
Participants will learn about the commercial corridor planning efforts to the development of numerous affordable housing units through park restorations and new art initiatives, there is much to learn from what has been built and developed and what is yet to come.
Participants will learn about a cross spectrum of sustainable initiatives that are happening in the community from the built environment to economic and cultural efforts.
