Please join us for a tour of the new Arrupe Hall, a 17,000 SF residence hall for the Jesuit Priests of Saint Joseph’s University and Saint Joseph’s Preparatory School. The project includes a number of innovative design features that garnered it the 2021 Divine Detail Award, the 2020 Silver Medal Award, Unbuilt from the AIA Philadelphia, with a 2021 Honor Award from the AIA Pennsylvania.

Learning Objectives

1. Intensive, three dimensional modular course planning.
2. Understanding the influence of masonry volumetric thermal and moisture movement in the context of a non-linear masonry installation.
3. Devising a system for reinforcing a single brick wythe with constantly shifting coursing.
4. Collaboration among designers, researchers, contractors and tradespeople in ensuring the constructability of the vision.
