Advocacy at AIA Philadelphia

At AIA Philadelphia, our advocacy efforts are guided by three strategic pillars:

  1. Advancing Architecture and Design
  2. Leading on Climate Action
  3. Prioritizing Equity and Justice

We collaborate with our City Hall Lobbyist and Advocacy Committee Leaders to engage key committees every month—including Housing, Licenses & Inspections, Historic Preservation, and the Committee on the Environment. Together, we:

  • Track and respond to local legislation
  • Develop position statements and testify before City Council
  • Organize special events with city leaders
  • Host annual or biannual City Hall Action Days, giving members the opportunity to meet directly with City Council to discuss pressing issues
  • Advocate for architects to serve in influential city appointments that shape the built environment

Our vision is bold: architects have the power to help shape policies that create a city where both people and the planet can thrive. If you share our passion for policy and advocacy, we invite you to connect with one of our committee leaders below and get involved.
