Mary Yee is an activist and co-founder of Asian Americans United. Over the years, Mary has been involved in many anti-displacement fights in the Chinatown community. She will be presenting on the proposed Sixers stadium and how it threatens the neighborhood.
Mary Yee has worked extensively with immigrant and refugee communities for over 40 years. She was involved in challenging the encroachment into Chinatown of public works projects, most notably the Vine Street Expressway, the Phillies baseball stadium, the Foxwoods Casino, and now the 76ers Arena. Ms. Yee holds degrees from Princeton University in East Asian Studies and the University of Pennsylvania in City Planning and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). Her background in planning and design has provided important insights into the social and geo-spatial contexts of communities and schools.
