You’re invited to join the AIA Philadelphia Committee on the Environment to learn more about the 2030 Commitment, to share knowledge, and to improve practice. Architects have an important role to play in addressing the climate crisis. In Philadelphia, buildings alone contribute to more than 70% of the city’s greenhouse gas emissions.
In part 1 of 2022 working group sessions, we will learn about learn about sustainability goals and how to craft them relevant to our project and our firm to evaluate progress. This session includes a seminar on March 14th followed by two workshops on April 11th and May9th.
March 14th - Seminar: Crafting SMART Sustainability Goals
Learning Objectives
1.Participants will be able to define what a SMART sustainability goal is.
2.Participants will learn how to write measurable sustainability goals.
3.Participants will learn how to track progress toward sustainability goals.
4.Participants will identify resources, including the AIA Framework for Design Excellence, for writing ambitious yet achievable sustainability goals.
April 11th - Workshop 1:SMART Sustainability Goals for Projects
Learning Objectives
Participants will review the definition of a SMART sustainability goal as it applies to projects.
Participants will work in a group setting to craft 3-4 SMART goals for a project of their choice.
Participants will evaluate units of measurement and frameworks for evaluating the achievement of SMART goals.
Participants will learn to identify resources for writing and achieving project sustainability goals.
May 9 - Workshop 02: SMART Sustainability Goals for Firms
Learning Objectives
Participants will review the definition of a SMART sustainability goal as it applies to a firm.
Participants will work in a group setting to craft 3-4 SMART goals for their firm.
Participants will evaluate units of measurement and frameworks for evaluating the achievement of SMART goals.
Participants will learn to identify resources for writing and achieving firm sustainability goals.
