PARKING DESIGNER

Scope

 The Parking Designer is responsible for designing and producing construction documents for parking garage projects. Drawings, details, specifications, code research, product selections, drawing issues and construction administration tasks as required to assure project completeness and accuracy within time restraints and budget.

Principal Responsibilities

• Responsible for design and documentation of standalone and mixed-use parking garages under the direct supervision of licensed design professional using computer aided drafting programs such as AutoCAD & Revit;
• Research products for inclusion in project specifications and details from catalogs, websites and product representatives for project needs;
• Confirm the project meets scope parameters and building code requirements;
• Maintain project design notebook and provide documentation for permanent record files;
• Recognize potential project problems quickly and seeks advice from the Project Manager or supervisor;
• Conduct periodic job site observations and all other services as required by the contract services agreement;
• Other duties as assigned by employer.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Knowledge of architectural design, documentation, and construction administration phases for building projects, preferably parking garages, and mixed-use buildings;
• Knowledge of design techniques, strategies, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical building plans, details and specifications;
• Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of parking structures;
• Skill in the use of Microsoft Office programs, AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam PDF Revu, Sketchup and Google Earth;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills;
• Attention to detail, dedication to quality work and strong work ethic.

Education and Experience

• Associates degree in a related architecture or engineering field required;
• Bachelors or Master's degree preferred;
• 3-5 years of equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Physical Requirements 

• Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds; 
• Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull;
•  Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises.
