PDP Selected to Prepare Design Guidelines and Green Building Standards for Bethlehem
Preservation Design Partnership, LLC has been selected to prepare Historic District Design Guidelines and Green Building Standards for Historic Homes for the City of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Located in the heart of the Lehigh Valley, Bethlehem rose to prominence as a “steel town” during the industrial revolution, although its history of settlement stretches back to its founding in 1741 and development as one of the most significant Moravian communities in North America. The city includes a stock of historic homes and commercial buildings dating from the 18th into the early-20th century.
The project will include Design Guidelines for historic properties in the district of Central Bethlehem, as well as standards for incorporating sustainable design practices for all of the city’s districts. Managing Principal Dominique M. Hawkins, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP - who prepared Design Guidelines for the South Bethlehem Historic Conservation District in 2004 - will lead the project. The Guidelines, which will be available to property owners in both electronic and printed form, are scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2012.
