Kimmel Bogrette Celebrates Several Summer Grand Openings
Haverford Township Community Recreation & Environmental Center: Haverford Township residents enjoyed a full summer of physical fitness, community learning and activity, and environmental education at the new Community Recreation & Environmental Center (CREC). The Center, designed by Kimmel Bogrette, is a dramatic and fitting addition to a park and nature preserve developed on a 160-acre portion of the former Haverford State Hospital site. The new 35,000-square-foot Center was designed as an indoor and outdoor environmental lab and includes geothermal heating/cooling, bioswales, rain chains and recycled materials, as well as interactive energy consumption displays and nature labs for environmental education. The Township is anticipating a LEED Gold Certification of the building.
Cape May Convention Hall: The City of Cape May started the summer by celebrating the completion of its new, state-of-the-art Convention Hall on the beach with a Grand Opening Ceremony, a High School Prom, and a Philly Pops concert on Memorial Day Weekend, just for starters. Residents and visitors have been actively exploring the new building all summer, and all are thrilled to finally have a great looking venue for concerts, shows and events that will keep the Cape May promenade thriving and active. Designed by Kimmel Bogrette, the Convention Hall also received high praise for acoustics in the new auditorium after it was put to the test with the Philly Pops concert. The new Hall is comprised of 20,000 square feet and includes a large Exhibit Hall / Auditorium, a spacious Lobby pre-function space, Community Room, an Information Center, event kitchen, administrative offices, and restrooms.
New Stadium, Field and Track at Lincoln University: Lincoln University is celebrating the official opening of the new Football Stadium and Field at Lincoln University in time for the kick-off of the football season. The football facilities and track are part of a larger campus improvement project that is adding athletic fields and facilities, correcting parking and circulation problems, and creating a more cohesive identity for the whole campus. The new home of the Lincoln Lions gives a big boost and a sense of pride to the University's relatively new football program that was reinstated in 2008 after 48 years of no football. Kimmel Bogrette designed the Stadium, as well as a Field House and Storage Building, to mesh with the aesthetic direction of the redesigned campus.
Hanover Township Administration & Public Works Complex: Construction will soon be completed on the new 17,000-square-foot Hanover Township Building in Allentown, PA. The Township wanted a contemporary and eye-catching building that would incorporate green design features and fulfill the Township’s current and future needs for space and functionality. Kimmel Bogrette’s design features a forward-thinking, two-story building for administrative offices, a lobby and public meeting room for 50 to 75 people, as well as a one-story public works garage. Green design features include a green roof over the administration wing and solar panels over the public works garage, as well as geothermal heating and cooling, wind turbines, and rain / grey water reclamation.
