About the Firm
Our work grows from the spirit of the site and the vision of our client. Attention to environmental concerns and historic, cultural, and architectural contexts are the hallmarks of our firm. Regardless of the project size, we listen to our clients' goals and translate them into appropriately sustainable solutions for each building and site, combining respect for the environment with design excellence, cost effectiveness and attention to detail. We measure our success by the level of satisfaction expressed by our clients and by the performance of our designs over time. Our work is guided by these six principles: 1) Environment: We believe that buildings must conserve resources and provide healthy environments for the people who use them. We are committed to respecting the environment on every project, at every level, every day. 2) Place: We embrace landscape, climate, history, culture and vernacular architecture as profound influences on our work. Every place is unique, and we create a unique design solution for each project. 3) Design: We recognize that beautiful, inspirational and well-crafted buildings positively affect people, both intellectually and emotionally. Design excellence involves creating innovative, yet timeless, architectural solutions. 4) Collaboration: We value collaboration with all project team members and believe that it is essential to the realization of an appropriate design response. Our task is to listen, share ideas, and foster consensus in order to design a project that exceeds expectations. 5) Service: We serve as advocates for our clients. We respect our clients' design goals and financial constraints, while also challenging assumptions, in order to achieve the highest quality result. 6) Education: We are lifelong learners and teachers, sharing our knowledge to promote greater awareness of the environment. Our work endeavors to educate our clients, building users, and general public. We strive to make a positive difference in the way people interact with each other and with their surroundings.
