On February 23, the Delaware Valley Chapter and New Jersey Chapters of ISPE will offer a joint program to be held at the Plainsboro, NJ Campus of Bristol-Myers Squibb. The event includes a highly interactive afternoon session focused on planning, designing and the construction of a biopharmaceutical research facility and applying rigorous Value Management (VM) tools to reflect the realities of today's cost conscious capital environment.
This new session builds on that experience and offers participants interactive exposure to the core elements of a capital project including current industry trends, corporate business drivers, project design drivers, design concepts and their cost implications, engineering system design impacts, sustainability, constructability, and value management techniques and the impact of VM on project outcomes. Participants will act as stakeholders and be given the opportunity to select the design concepts and engineering schemes that will drive the project scope, schedule and cost. The group will participate in a detailed VM of their project design and lessons learned and best practices from actual projects in the region will be brought into the VM component.
Attendance at the afternoon session will be limited based on a first come first served basis. Certain elements of the session will be tailored to provide Young Professionals with the overall concepts and project management processes expected for capital projects within our industry.
The afternoon session will be followed by a networking reception, dinner and a roundtable discussion featuring senior Executives from Bio-Pharmaceutical companies. The focus of the roundtable will be a Value Management in today's capital environment. The speakers will weigh in on Value Management from the perspective of both their experience and their expectations. They will discuss such areas as: risk, rewards, challenges, preferred timing, realistic cost impacts, program and project driver impacts, and its future role in the industry. The roundtable will be organized primarily around audience interaction with the presenters.
